Sneaky Blue Belt Grading

Once again Professor Sean McHugh did another sneaky Belt grading. This time it's for Michelle who earned her Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Michelle has come a long way since she first walked through Alliance Kelowna's doors to attend one of our Women Empowered Self-Defense Seminars. Michelle who is legally blind fell in love with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As well as a full-time student at UBCO, Michelle put more hours per week on the mats than any other member. This intern has won her 2 gold medals and hasn't had point scored on her in competition. She also has been smoke free for 1 and half years and was able to quit cigarettes 4 days after joining our club. We're proud of you Michelle and are excited to apart of your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey.

Alliance Team Wins the 2018 BC BJJ Championships

Once again the Alliance BJJ teams have shown their dominance and won the 2018 British Columbia Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Richmond last week. Alliance has only 3 clubs in all of BC compared to their much bigger competition but it's quality over quantity and showing the high-level of instruction that you'll receive at any Alliance Team Academies.

Big props to all the other teams competing! There were so many great matches and it's exciting to see the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in British Columbia and world wide. Also a big thanks to the CBJJF to hosting the event. This takes a lot of hardworking and dedication to put a tournament of this size on and we're thankful for having the opportunity to for all our teams to come together and compete.

If you're in the area please stop by and say hi to any of the Alliance BJJ Academies:

We hosted a fantastic seminar with Multi-World Champion Thomas Lisboa on Saturday May 12th. We all learned a lot and we've been getting "Triple A" reviews from the people who attended. This was Thomas's first time in Kelowna and he loved the city so I'm sure we'll have him back to do another seminar real soon.

Make sure you get on our email at alliancekelowna@gmail.com list so you don't miss out on the next seminar we host.
